A nationally respected political strategist and public affairs executive, Raul has worked deep inside government to forge a powerful skill set and nationwide network from the White House to grassroots organizations. Raul’s experience in the Washington, D.C ecosystem, strong ties to the new administration and proven ability to build substantive relationships with corporate leaders and policy influentials at the local, state and federal level brings our clients a powerful perspective on navigating the future.

Most recently, Raul served as the Biden/Harris 2020 Presidential Campaign State Director of New Mexico. A native of New Mexico, Alvillar is the former Political Director of the Democratic National Committee where he collaborated with decision makers in the White House, Congress, Governors, state houses all the way to the local level to disseminate Democratic priorities and goals.

In his role at Resolute, Raul works with the firm’s leadership to strengthen and expand strategic advisory and public affairs counsel, including crisis and risk management services, in New Mexico and the southwest.

Alvillar’s expansive political career in 2000 working on the Al Gore Presidential campaign. In 2007 he joined the then Senator Barack Obama’s Presidential campaign as its 52nd hire. After working for former President Barack Obama’s election campaign as a regional political director, he went on to serve in several roles for the administration including Associate Director of the White House’s Office of Public Engagement. In this role, he facilitated White House interactions with policy influencers so they could articulate the President’s message to mass audiences. As the interim LBGT Liaison he worked with the team that managed the White House rollout of the repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

Alvillar has also served at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as the Senior Advisor for Public Engagement Office where he advised senior officials regarding issues related to housing, Sustainable Communities, and Promise Zones. His responsibilities included engaging external partners and issues management for the Secretary, including specific high-profile issues, including the $25 Billion Mortgage Settlement. He left this role to serve at the DNC. Before joining the Biden campaign, Alvillar worked as a public affairs consultant.

Alvillar was named to the Huffington Post’s list of “40 under 40 most influential Latino’s in American Politics” in 2014 and 2015. He has been a guest commentator on numerous national broadcast programs including Bloomberg Radio, MSNBC, Fox News, Fox Business, CNN, CNN Espanol, Sky News Britain, Sky News Australia and has been featured in the New York Times, Politico, The Blade and USA Today among others.
